Crochet Hats and Me!

Hi Everyone,
How has your week been? I have been busy with my work in the nursing home, for those of you who don't know I am a Activity Coordinator for the elderly, my duties are to fill the residents day with fun and energetic activities, when I started in the home there was no coordinator, so when I was offered the promotion I had a lot of hard work ahead of me- setting up a timetable of suitable sessions - I now run a full time activity schedule which covers Bingo, Prayers and spiritual groups, Relaxation, Exercise, Movie group, Multi sensory sessions, Baking and one to one therapy.
Let me introduce you to one of our oldest residents at 98 years young!

Last year she asked me to make her a hat to keep her head warm, we were going on a day out, she wanted it to tie under the chin so not to blow away in the strong Irish wind!

also I finished the 2nd hat towards my charity project for Debra Ireland, I call this hat Agnieszka

I am very happy with how it turned out - so thats two down only ten to go! I have also been busy this week preparing for my first crochet evening class which I will be giving on Friday, It will be a ten week course and so far eight people have signed up, I am delighted with this as the maximum number was ten!
Hope you all enjoy the rest of your week and I will end with a picture of me after I opened my sewing machine!!!(can you tell Im still excited?) ;)

  4. Hi Neen, thanks for stopping by my corner of the world. Somehow, bloggers that I thought I was following before, or had put in my sidebar, just disappeared. I'm glad to be back enjoying your wonderful crochet. What a lovely model you have for your beautiful hats. :) Happy belated birthday. Looks like it was a perfect day. Best wishes, Tammy

  5. Hi Neen,
    Wow, what a great post...
It seems like you have a very special job coordinating activities for people in their golden years. They must enjoy your crochet talents too. I wish I could take your class. I can crochet but am self taught and I could use some instruction. The machine is beautiful. I know you're going to get a lot of use from it!
    Au Revoir,
    ♥Danette
