My Pumpkin's Hat


My Pumpkin’s Hat
Size
3-6month baby

You will need:
6mm crochet hook
darning needle
Stitch Marker

Yarn I used:
Red Heart Super Saver 10ply
Acrylic

SC - Single Crochet

gauge - 2SC per inch

Making the Hat

Chain 5 and join with a slip stitch

  • Chain 1 (counts as first SC) 8 SC into loop (9SC) add stitch marker as this hat is made up in a spiral
  • 2SC in each stitch around (16SC)
  • *1SC in first stitch, 2SC in second space, Repeat from * all around (24SC)
  • *1SC in next two spaces with an increase(2SC) on the third* Repeat from * around (20SC)
  • 1SC in each stitch around (30SC)
  • *1SC in next four stitches with increase(2SC) on the fifth* Repeat from * around (47SC)
  • 1SC all around (40SC), Work until you reach 6inches, fasten off with a slip stitch to finish.
Stem

Chain 3 and join with a slip stitch (this makes a loop)
  • Chain 1 (counts as 1SC) 8SC in loop (9SC)
  • 1SC in each stitch around, continue until you reach 3inches
Petals
  • Chain 4 (first Treble) *1Treble and slip stitch into same stitch* Repeat from * twice more, Chain 4 and slip stitch in same stitch.
  • Slip Stitch in next two spaces
  • Chain 4 (first Treble) *1Treble and slip stitch into same stitch* Repeat from * twice more, Chain 4 and slip stitch in same stitch.
  • Slip Stitch in next two spaces
  • Chain 4 (first Treble) *1Treble and slip stitch into same stitch* Repeat from * twice more, Chain 4 and slip stitch in same stitch.
  • Slip Stitch in next two spaces
  • Chain 4 (first Treble) *1Treble and slip stitch into same stitch* Repeat from * twice more, Chain 4 and slip stitch in same stitch.
  • Fasten off with a slip stitch to finish
Using your darning needle sew the stem to the top of the hat, tie in and cut any loose ends.

I used Noro yarn when crocheting this, I really didnt want to use pom poms which is suggested in the pattern so instead I used a really big, funky red button that I got in Hickeys, Galway
